Wherever you are in your Law of Attraction (LOA) journey, knowing how meditation changes the brain can help you better live a life full of abundance and happiness. Brainwaves are vital in attracting what you want most, and allowing you to live with a sense of satisfaction that your dreams are being fulfilled. Meditation is key for focusing on connecting with our abundance brainwaves (lower frequency brainwaves). These are the brainwaves that breathe life into the magic of law of attraction. Let’s start changing our brain with meditation and enjoying the pure awesome sauce of LOA!
Here’s how it all works…
Brainwaves are tiny electrical vibrations that (besides being miraculous in nature), when teamed up with our beliefs and underlying subconscious thoughts can create the pathway for a life that is absolutely spectacular and magical.
Brainwaves pull all the strings… I like to think of them as the strings to puppet master’s marionette. In reality we each have a puppet master deep within us who knows exactly how to orchestrate the beautiful movements of life… But we often take control and ultimately tangle up all the strings of life’s marionette in the process. Meditation and mindfulness help us let the puppet master do their thing.
Every one of our unique thoughts holds an opportunity for us to either grow with the Law of Attraction or shrink away from it. Brainwaves form the path for these thoughts and feelings to flow in and out. Recognizing your feelings can actually be really helpful to know whether you are tuned into the best brainwave frequency for the law of attraction to be working in your life. If you’re feeling super alert and ready to seize the day, you’re probably in a good place… alternatively, feeling discouraged or slow as a sloth is often an indicator that you probably need to take a beat and reset.
Just like a radio has different stations, we need to tune our personal manifestation station to the right channel, but we have to work through the other stations to get there and meditation is a great way to do just that.
At the end of this article we will go over a great meditation exercise for tuning into your personal manifestation station. There are actually 5 different types of brainwaves (tuning stations) and it’s important to understand them so you can know when your brainwaves are working for you.
Our brain is constantly buzzing with ideas, worries, inspirations … all humming along at different frequencies. These different frequencies have been grouped into specific types of brainwave categories ranging from high to low frequencies. Higher frequencies typically mean you are more alert and active, but these higher frequencies tend to block out the lower frequency Theta brainwaves that we want to get to. Heres a breakdown of the 5 different types of brainwaves.
Gamma brainwaves are small and fast oscillations (30-100Hz). Note: The higher the Hertz (Hz), the faster the brain waves are moving. Here your mind is extremely focused and you are fixated on something in particular. You’re typically pushing yourself beyond the norm over something that truly requires some intense focus. Perhaps you are studying for a final exam, preparing for a meeting that will make or break your career, or getting ready for your dream job interview… Regardless of what it is, there's some serious need and intent for focus. Thinking at this level requires a TON of energy and most people can’t operate for more than a couple of hours at a time at this level before crashing or chugging an energy drink or two.
Beta Brainwaves (14-40Hz) happen when you are awake and living at a higher level of learning and concentration as well. Your brainwaves are firing as you are in class, as you read, mingle with others, do various tasks and work. Here, your focus can be on the rest of the world, apart from yourself. We often spend much of our day at the Beta level.
Alpha Brainwaves (8-13Hz) occur when you're awake and feeling great and relaxed. Perhaps you're at home after a long day, sitting on the couch with a nice cup of tea, cocoa, or glass of wine (choose your poison), and you are in a state of reflection. This is number three in the list, but I feel like it should ultimately be number 1. Once you reach alpha brainwaves, you are well on your way to theta brainwaves where you can find the key to unlock the treasure chest filled with your hopes and dreams.
Theta Brainwaves (4-7.5Hz) happen when you can get into a true meditational mindset or be in a flowing dream state. As I’ve mentioned before, this is the magical state where that LOA boomerang can be fully released into the universe and carry your dreams back to you. Meditation helps train your brain to operate on lower level brainwaves so you can better go through your day riding in the Alpha state. But our mind can go even deeper.
With delta brainwaves and meditation, you can dive deep into the realm of transcendence and manifestation as your unconscious mind is searching for what you truly want in life. These are the lowest on the spectrum sitting at a comfortable and extremely relaxed 0.5-4Hz. When you experience delta brainwaves, you are likely in an amazing deeper dreamless sleep. At this level, some have been known to sleep through earthquakes! People often experience rejuvenation and healing while in this state.
When it comes to manifestation and the Law of Attraction working for you, lower is better.
With mindfulness meditation, anyone can train their minds, as well as their bodies, to be able to obtain these various states of brainwaves as they wish. That's right! Before you know it, you'll be shifting your mind to its various states any time you want and your dreams will be en route to YOU!
As you get more comfortable and familiar with the power meditation has to offer, you will be able to control your brainwaves and attract an abundance of your lovely dreams into your life; thus making your dreams interwoven with your reality and helping you reach your destiny. Alpha and Theta brainwaves are where attracting your dreams can really spread its wings and work for you.
If you’re not sure where to start with meditation and training your brain, I’ve got your back! You know I am all about helpful exercises and improvement… So by all means, let's dive into an activity that will help you do exactly that.
Before we jump in, I invite you to go somewhere that you truly feel comfortable and peaceful. It could be your favorite room, a special quiet place, your backyard, a hammock, your kid's treehouse… Really anywhere you feel at peace. If you have a magic carpet (AKA yoga mat or towel), feel free to use that, if you're going to be on the floor. In this activity, do your best to maintain focus on your breathing to the very end. (No need to worry, I'll remind you as we go through the steps!)
How are you feeling? After your meditation, you're totally welcome to do a little happy dance for some good celebratory vibes. You made it!
And if it was a complete struggle, don’t fret! That’s completely normal when first starting. It will get easier and you will get better as you practice regularly. Make a daily ritual of it (even just a few minutes will do wonders).
Growing feelings of relaxation and positivity are a great way to know that your brain is changing because of practicing meditation. But if you’d like to know and measure how well meditation is working or take it to the next level you should consider using a Muse Brain Sensing Headband. These headbands actually monitor your brain and let you know when and for how long you reach the low level brainwaves. Technology is so cool!
When it comes to how meditation changes the brain, it comes down to managing your brainwaves. Those brainwaves can either work for you or against you in piecing together the majestic puzzle of your life. Once you train your mind to operate at the best frequency (Alpha, Theta, Delta), it unlocks your ability to leverage the Law of Attraction in your life. You've had quite the journey to make it where you are today (I'm so excited for you!). As you notice pieces of your dreams are starting to come together, don't forget to do a happy dance of success!
