So, you’ve heard about the wonderful things that mindfulness and other meditation practices can achieve and you’re on board. But despite watching videos, reading books, reviewing tips and tricks, and practicing regularly, you’re still struggling. Don’t feel bad, because focused attention can be extremely difficult to master. Fortunately, the EFT Tapping technique can help you achieve many of the same results as other meditation practices. Yet, it’s much easier for many people who are new to meditation techniques. Let’s look at how and why to unlock the amazing effects of EFT Tapping meditation.
Mechanically, the EFT Tapping technique is the practice of tapping precise points on your body with your fingertips, while focusing on a specific problem and repeating personal “mantras” to help overcome physical, emotional, or performance concerns. That’s the top-level definition. However, Tapping has many layers. To peel back those layers, let’s explore the Emotional Freedom Technique.
Tapping meditation is often referred to as EFT Tapping, EFT, or just Tapping. The EFT method is based on the healing principles and values of acupuncture and acupressure. Therefore, the spots you tap on your body – called meridian points – are some of the same pinpoint locations that acupuncture targets.
Energy is a focal point in EFT tapping. Essentially, disruptions of our personal energy flow cause our negative emotions, harmful beliefs, poor self-esteem, and other damaging feelings. To enjoy the benefits of Tapping, you must believe in the power of your mind and embrace how the flow of energy impacts you, your health, and your emotional wellbeing.
With EFT, you are working to make positive, permanent changes to your subconscious mind through actions and thoughts with your conscious mind. This emotionally freeing technique is designed to eliminate destructive, negative thought patterns, behaviors, and beliefs.
Tapping allows you to release the negative energies that cause energy flow blockages along your meridian points. Once free of those blockages, your balanced and smoothly flowing energy delivers a sense of stability and wellbeing.
Plentiful research, scientific studies, reviews, and anecdotal evidence speak to the efficiency of EFT Tapping meditation. It’s both a successful self-help solution and an effective clinical treatment that a growing number of mental health and medical clinicians are using.
Moreover, EFT Tapping can help resolve a wide range of issues and medical problems. In one 2019 study, a review of 203 EFT Tapping workshop participants, revealed improvement in several areas, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, cravings, and pain. There are nine universal meridian tapping points. They coincide with nine of the 12 Qi,/Ki organ meridians and eight energy storage vessels, which traditional Chinese medicine explains as the life force energy points on our bodies. These are the paths of our life-energy flow.

| TOH – Top of head | Governing Vessel | Criticism, obsession | Insight, Wisdom, Clarity, Independence |
| EB – Inside edge of the eyebrow | Bladder Yang | Restlessness, Frustration, Trauma, Dread, Impatience | Emotional Healing, Inner Peace |

| UE – Under the eye – top of the cheekbone | Stomach Yang | Cravings, Fear, Anxiety, Nervousness, Emptiness, Worry | Relaxation, Feeling of Safety, Contentment, Calm |
| UN – Under the nose – above the mouth | Governing Vessel | Guilt, Embarrassment, Grief, Fear of Failure, Powerlessness | Self-Esteem, Acceptance, Empowerment |

There are some small differences in how EFT Tapping Meditation is performed. So, you may see other techniques that deviate a bit from the following steps. The important thing is to work with a method that feels comfortable to you and delivers the best results. So, feel free to adopt other techniques if you find them easier than the following steps.
When tapping, only concentrate on a single issue during each session.
Start by focusing on the problem you are trying to fix, release, or rid yourself of. For example, fear of failure. Close your eyes if it helps you focus.
On a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being the lowest intensity and 10 being the highest, how intense is the issue you’re working to resolve? Assign a number rating to your issue.
Your statement should begin with “Even though” or “Despite,” and you follow it with a claim about the issue you’re currently addressing – like stress, fear, anxiety, or physical pain. End the statement with an acceptance statement that you can commit to.
Examples:
Even though I feel anxious, I completely accept myself.
Even though I am under a lot of stress, I deeply accept myself.
Despite my low self-esteem, I know I am a worthy person.
Even though I am afraid of flying, I am learning to accept myself.
This is commonly called the set-up statement.
Tap the KC – karate chop point – on one hand with two or three fingers of your other hand at least 10 times. As you are tapping, repeat your mantra statement out loud at least 3 times. Focus on the pain, discomfort, negative feeling, or emotion you want to be rid of. Once you feel centered and focused, you can move on to the tapping sequence.
Continue concentrating and start the tapping sequence, beginning with TOH. While you move through the points, speak your set-up statement aloud. Tap each point several times as you repeat your mantra, then move to the next meridian point. After tapping the UA point, breath in deeply and slowly. If you are unable to take a satisfying, deep breath, start over again with TOH.

Some of your meridian points are paired. In those cases, you need only tap on one side. Choose which side is most comfortable for you and maintain consistency throughout the session.
When you are able to take a deep, satisfying breath, move to Step 6.
Once you’ve completed the tapping sequence with a deep breath, calmly reevaluate the intensity level of your issue and give it a new 0 to 10 rating. Start over if the rating is still too high.
